Fernandez and Enbaraj join MHC

Kuala Lumpur (23 May, 2016): The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) has appointed Brian Gerard Fernandez as the Competitions Manager.

Fernandez has a sound technical background in the game having played hockey for Kilat Club from 1978-1985. His other portfolios on the local front was Secretary of Penang Eurasian Association (1985-1993), former MHF Umpire Class 1, Secretary Umpiring Committee (2006-2011/12), Technical Committee MHF/MHC  (2012-1014) and former Deputy Chairman Competitions Committee of Selangor HA from 2013-2015.

On the international platform, Fernandez currently serves as Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) Assistant Secretary Competitions & Technical Coordinator for the AHF Academy, as well as FIH Technical official Class 2.

He was also appointed Technical Delegate for the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea in 2011.

The MHC also announced the appointment of former international K. Enbaraj as Coaching Coordinator for a two-year period, beginning May 2016. Enbaraj represented the national team from 1986-1992 and was considered as one of the top penalty corner specialist in the world.

His last coaching stint was as head coach of the national women’s team that won the bronze medal at the 2013 Myanmar Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).

Enbaraj’s job functions includes assisting with coaches development, coordinating coaching courses by MHC, specialised training – short corners and assisting with 1MAS Centres and coaching events.
