TNBMJHL2019: Black Widow edge Mutiara Impian to remain top

The TNB Malaysian Junior Hockey League’s (Women) table toppers, MBPJ Black Widow continued their unbeaten record after earning a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Mutiara Impian-MSSPP-PSHA at KLHA stadium earlier today.

Mutiara Impian broke the deadlock as early as the 4th minute through a penalty corner converted by Farah Hanim before Black Widow replied with three goals through Nuramirah Shakirah’s field goal brace in the 24th and 58th minute on either end of Nur Izzatul Syahirah’s penalty corner conversion in the 49th.

Mutiara Impian continued to press on to get back in the match which eventually paid off a minute from time as Elizabeth Epui managed to pull one back for the visitors but it proved too little, too late.

Having played an extra match, MBPJ Black Widow now lead the standings with 19 points ahead of second-placed SSTMI-PKS Uniten (16 pts) and closely followed by SSP – MSP PKS Uniten (15 pts).

The other fixtures today saw SSTMI-PKS Uniten handing out a 5-1 trashing to MSNT-PHT-MSST with Johor Girl-PHJ MSNJ winning 3-0 over KL Wipers-KLSS and Zaba Girls at the wrong end of a 0-11 trashing at the hands of SSMS Girls.

In the men’s division, BJSS Thunderbolts closed the gap to four points of SSTMI Thunderbolts in the race for the title after their 3-1 win over MSN/SSN/PHPs/Young Lion in Kangar this evening.

In the absence of table toppers, SSTMI who were given the day off, BJSS consolidated their second-place position with a brace by Muhammad Amirul Hanif Mamat (FG, 5’) and a field goal by Muhd Adam Daniel Ferozs in the 14th minute.

The homesters consolation goal was scored by Muhammad Fakhrul Aiman Abdullah through a penalty stroke in the 47th minute.

With a game in hand, SSTMI are still hot favourites to retain the title, sitting pretty on top with 33 points and a +57 goal difference, with BJSS having a +21 goal difference.

Rounding off the fixtures, Anderson Thunderbolts won 4-1 against KL Wipers, SSMS Resilient were trashed 0-4 by BJSS Jr 2022, Sabah Jr (PHS/SHA-SSMS) won 4-0 against MSSPP-PSHA ans SMKDBL edged out MBPJ Tigers, 3-2.

Earlier on Tuesday, SSTMI trashed BJSS Jr 2022, 6-3 while on Wednesday, MSSPP-PSHA lost 1-4 to KL Wipers and AHP-MSP Thunderbolts trashed MSNT-PHT-MSST, 6-1.
