Defending champions Pahang and Perak will battle in the final for the National Men’s Hockey5s Championship title at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil today.
Coach Mohd Sufian Mohamed’s Pahang side will now look to redeem their battered pride against Perak following their 0-5 bashing in the Pool A preliminary round match on July 17.
In yesterday’s semifinal encounters, Pahang edged Malacca 3-1 in a penalty shootout after a scoreless draw in regulation time, and Perak sneaked through to the final with a 2-0 win over Perlis, also in a penalty shootout, after a 1-1 draw at full time.
Pahang’s goals were scored by Muhammad Shamir Syafie Ishak, Wan Muhammad Najmie Ahmad Dzaib and Muhamad Izham Azhar while Malacca replied through Muhammad Nur Asyraf Ishak.
Former international Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin Tengku Abdul Abdul Jalil fired the tiny state of Perlis ahead with a seventh minute field goal. Perak, however, equalised in the 16th minute through Azmilmuizzzuddin Misron in a similar fashion.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, Meor Muhamad Azuan Hasan and Mohamad Ashran Hamsani were successful in taking the Silver State to the final.

Meanwhile, in the women’s competition, Kuala Lumpur and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) will face off in the final.
Kuala Lumpur turned the table on Perak to register a 2-0 victory in the semi-finals after losing 4-6 in the group stage competition. Nur Syaza Afiqah Safawi (7th) and Hasya Syahida Saifuddin (19th) scored for the city team.
PDRM also continued its dominance over coach A.N Leo Vincey’s Penang side following a 2-1 victory. The Blue Warriors had earned a 3-2 win in the Group C preliminary round fixture.
Penang took a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute through Nur Iman Adawiyah’s penalty corner conversion. PDRM equalised in the 14th minute via Norhasikin Halim’s penalty corner strike and Wan NorfaFaiezah Mohd Saiuti extended the lead to 2-1 in the 20th minute from a field goal.
