AUSSIES ROLL OVER PAKISTAN WITH BIG WIN

Australia defeated Pakistan 7-5 in this high-scoring match with a Cambell Geddes hat-trick, Nathan Czinner and Brodee Foster’s brace in the 5-8th classification match of the Men’s Hockey Junior World Cup at the National Hockey Stadium today.
The Australians will now play in the 5-6th placing playoff match against the Netherlands on Saturday, while Pakistan will take on Argentina for their 7th and 8th place match.
At the 2016 Sultan of Johor Cup, Australia won 8-1 in a pool match, and also secured a 3-1 victory in the final.
Geddes (29th, 37th and 40th minutes), Czinner (3rd and 41st minutes), and Foster (32nd and 46th minutes) have been consistently scoring in the team. The Pakistanis, who played with substitute goalkeeper Abdul Rafay throughout the match following a hamstring injury to Ali Raza, clawed back late in the game to score three goals.

Pakistan scorers were Abdul Qayyum (14th, 57th), Umar Mustafa (34th), Aslam Ahtisham (48th) and Sufyan Khan (59th minute).
Roelant Oltmans, Pakistan coach, said: “If you score five goals, normally you win a match. But today we conceded too many. There are, of course, reasons for that, but I don’t want to discuss. In the entire tournament, our defence played well, but today they just went down.

You can see that the morale of our defence was going down a bit when Australia kept scoring goals. And the structure in the third quarter was not good. But I must compliment my players as they fought back in the third quarter and managed to score two more goals.” “
Jay Stacy, the Australian coach, said: “Pakistan are a good and skillful team. It is difficult to contain them. But I thought we did a pretty good job early in the game and then later in the game. There was a little bit of structure and certain issues which we will look at the video and try to make some changes.”
