Bank Islam Launch A New Co-branded Card In Collaboration with Malaysian Hockey Confederation

Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (“Bank Islam”) today launched the new Bank Islam Visa Malaysian Hockey Confederation (“MHC”) Debit Card-i, specially designed for the fans and loyal supporters of the national hockey squad of Malaysia.

This launching ceremony was graced by Dato’ Seri Subahan Kamal, MHC’s President and Encik Khairul Kamarudin, Bank Islam’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Impiana Hotel, Ipoh, Perak.

Encik Khairul Kamarudin said, “With the launch of the new card, Bank Islam will be able to expand its services and financial inclusion to the hockey fans. This collaboration is expected to contribute to the overall development of MHC as well as the hockey squads in Malaysia, where a portion of the annual fee and the issuance/conversion fee will be channelled directly to MHC. This co-brand effort is also one of the initiatives to popularise hockey among Malaysians and consequently improving the performance of our national squad on par with the international standard.”

Dato’ Seri Subahan Kamal also said, “We are extremely pleased with this collaboration. Bank Islam has always inspired the mass with its revolutionary ideas and people-centric product, constantly establishing itself as an engaging and exciting institution. Such a feat underlines our aspiration; one we believe this partnership would be a strong catalyst for. We thank Bank Islam for its belief in our talent and ideals, and we aspire to be strong ambassadors of the Bank as well as the game of hockey.

The previous co-brand effort has received a very good response from the mass, especially from the younger market segment. These younger people have a very positive attitude towards the production of Bank Islam Visa Debit Card-i in collaboration with other organisations, particularly in the sports industry. As at end of March 2017, Bank Islam debit card-i issuance has reached more than three million nationwide. Through this partnership, the issuance of the debit card is expected to increase by 50,000 cards in the first year.
The launch of Bank Islam Visa MHC Debit Card-i is also expected to escalate the number of retail transactions using debit cards and at the same time will be able to create a cashless society in line with Bank Negara Malaysia’s objectives.

Bank Islam Visa MHC Debit Card-i is issued on the spot at all Bank Islam branches nationwide starting this June. To find out more about the card, customers can visit the nearest Bank Islam branch or call 03- 26 900 900.
