In the final that was played at the National Hockey Stadium here in Bukit Jalil, SSTMI-PKS Uniten and MBPJ Black Widow put up an entertaining game with each determined to be crowned as the league’s best this year.
But it was SSTMI-PKS Uniten who were more enterprising as they pushed hard down the right flank to earn a Penalty Corner that was slammed in by Khairunnisa Ayuni Mohd Sharuddin.
However, 2019 winners MBPJ Black Widow were not about to lie low and succumb to the result where after some sustained pressure a Penalty Corner that was denied by a resolute SSTMI-PKS Uniten resulted in a Penalty Stroke in the 46th minute.
And Norshafiqha Ishak certainly did not disappoint from the spot as she flicked the ball past SSTMI-PKS Uniten goalkeeper Nur Haslinda Zainal Abidin to put both teams back on level.
However, Nur Shafika Mohd would have the final say in the final period of the game when she stroked the ball in from a Penalty Corner in the 55th minute for the win and the title.
In the meantime, Wipers KLSS emerged third in the competition after beating SSNP-MSP-PKS Uniten 2-1 in the classification match.
It was SSNP-MSP-PKS Uniten who worked their way into the lead when Nur Shazwani Zakaria slotted in an 11th minute Field Goal.
But Wipers KLSS were not dismayed as they kept pressing their opponents hard for the equaliser all the way to the final period.
A Penalty Corner in the 49th minute was grounded in by Kirandeep Kaur as she then made sure of the win for Wipers KLSS with a well-finished Field Goal four minutes later.
