The TNBMHL Division One tournament returns after a two-week break with Ipoh Municipal Council (MBI) going into a head-on collision with Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) on Saturday (Aug 20) at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium.
MBI lead the table standings with six points following a 3-2 win over defending champions Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM-KPT) and 4-1 against ATM Airod respectively while the Johor-based SSTMI are second spot with four points after two matches.
The Division One league, which started on August 5, took a break in lieu of the Malaysian Schools Sports Council (MMSM) Under-18 competition in Ipoh which ended two days ago.
In other matches, ATM Airod host UITM-KPT at the Tun Razak Hockey Stadium, TNB Thunderbolt plays Bukit Jalil Sports School at the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Stadium and Politeknik Malaysia entertains Penang-based Nur Insafi at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium in Johor Baru.
Meanwhile, UiTM-KPT protest against MBI on August 5 following their 2-3 defeat at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh has been turned down by TNBMHL Tournament Director, Jusvir Singh Dhaliwal.
UiTM-KPT lodged a protest after the game citing the failure of MBI as the home team in providing medical services at the venue.
“We have checked with the match coordinator of the MBI-UiTM match at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium and they (MBI) as host have made all the necessary arrangements at the venue including medical services. There is no basis for this protest,” said Jusvir.
