Nasal bone fracture did not stop Ahmad Suhaimi

The Young Tiger’s defender, Ahmad Suhaimi Kamarudin has a Lion’s heart.
The 21-year-old defender with the Malaysian Juniors suffered a nasal bone fracture during the Pool A match against defending champions Argentina on Wednesday (June 6).

Ahmad Suhaimi suffered the injury after hockey stick hit him by an Argentinean player. He was referred to the National Sports Institute ENT Specialist, Dr Kamarul Hashimy Hussein, for treatment.

Although the injury was quite serious, Ahmad Suhaimi, was adamant about wanting to play against Australia in the crucial Pool A match today. The physician gave him the green light to play on the condition that he wears a proper sports face mask
A letter from ISN certifying the injury and the player’s requirement a face mask to play was sent to FIH medical doctor, Ramlan Abdul Aziz, who forwarded it to FIH for approval to wear the specified mask. The player has been given the green light and considered fit to play against Australia.

Suhaimi did well for Malaysia, where despite being three goals down, they came back to reduce the deficit and finally bowed out 3-5.
