Subahan: Where Are The Indians, Chinese And Eurasians?

Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) President, Dato’ Sri Subahan Kamal said today he hopes to see more players from other races feature in the Malaysia Hockey Leagues and national teams.

“There are only a few players of Indian, Chinese and Eurasians competing in the MHL. We invite more players from these races to play in hockey tournaments. We give everybody a chance to be selected for the national teams,” he said.

He also stressed that the national junior and senior teams will train and play along the same system and DNA.

“It is the aspiration of the national body to have one roof for the senior and junior players in their playing and training structure. We leave it solely to the head coach to decide where to move forward. We want the seniors and juniors to train and have the same playing style and same DNA. The head coach is given the task to draw out this plan.”

“We also have plans to set up the national Under-17 and Under-19 teams so that there will be a bigger pool of players available for the future,” said Subahan.

Meanwhile, National head coach Sarjit Singh said that Nurinsafi Sporting forward Nur Rahull Hrsikesa Thaitchana Muruthi, who scored 18 goals in the MHL, will be among the players called up for national training.

Rahull is currently the fourth top scorer in the MHL after Azrai Aizad Abu Kamal of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (28), Jang Jong Hyun – 23 (TNB), and Faizal Saari of Terengganu HT (20).

“I watched a few of the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) matches and found they are talented players. If I may have left out any player, please let me know,” he said.
