Perak women’s team held their nerve to outgun Johor 2-1 in the last of Group A preliminary round matches to setup a semifinal showdown on Friday (Oct 11) against the Young Tigress in the TNB Tun Abdul Razak Cup at the Johor Hockey Stadium, Taman Daya, Johor Bahru.

The second semi-final encounter will be between Terengganu and Selangor. The east coast state ended Malacca’s run with a 1-0 win. The goal was scored by Nur Syuhada Suhaimi in the 20th minute, via a penalty corner conversion.

The Selangor women edged Pahang 1-0 today, courtesy of Nurul Syafiqah’s Mat Isa’s 46th minute penalty corner goal.

Selangor and Perak shared nine equal points in Group A at the conclusion of the preliminary round matches, but Selangor tops the ladder on a better goal difference.

In Group B, the Young Tigress are top of the pool with 13 points, followed by Terengganu (10), Malacca (9), Kuala Lumpur (7), ATM (2) and Negeri Sembilan (1). Kuala Lumpur defeated Negeri Sembilan 1-0 with a Hasya Syahidah Saifuddin’s 12th minute penalty corner conversion.

A field goal by Dian Nursyakira Najwa 11 minutes into the game – her fourth goal of the tournament – broke the deadlock to put Perak 1-0 ahead. But Johor equalized at 1-1 in the 28th minute through Nur Asfarina Isahhidun.

Perak then found the winning goal via Liyana Aqilah Mohd Sepawi’s penalty corner conversion in the 33rd minute. Both teams looked dangerous in the fourth quarter but Perak prevailed against the storm and moved into the semifinals on Friday (11 Oct).
