Nur Iman Adawiyah Mohd Suhaimi fired a double to give Pulau Pinang a come from behind 2-1 win over Negeri Sembilan in the final to take the crown in the Girls’ Division of the MHC National Under-16 Hockey Tournament 2022 here in Bukit Jalil.
It was Pulau Pinang who were the early aggressor with a penalty corner that was denied as Negeri Sembilan then started to show their hand into the evenly contested affair.
With the score still tied at the end of the first period, Negeri Sembilan’s Irdina Madihah Azmi slotted home a well worked goal from a penalty corner in the 22nd minute for the lead.
As Negri Sembilan came close to adding to the scoreline on several occasions, Pulau Pinang did not lose shape and they duly grabbed the equaliser in the 46th minute with an opportunistic finish from Nur Iman Adawiyah.
But the islanders were not quite finished yet where in the 57th minute, a lapse in concentration in the Negeri Sembilan backline allowed Nur Iman Adawiyah to turn past goalkeeper Nur Camaeleah Rudy Kurniawan to slot home the winner.
