The National Men's Indoor Hockey Squad is seeking support from the Malaysian fans ahead of their first match in the 2025 World Cup in Porec, Croatia, against Germany today.
The tournament, which takes place from February 3rd to 9th, features Malaysia in Group B alongside three-time world champions Germany, Asian champions Iran, and Pan American champions Argentina.
Despite being aware of the difficult challenges ahead, the team's head coach, Mohd Rodzhanizam Mat Radzi, urged his players to deliver their best performance in order to achieve a positive result in the first match.
Mohd Rodzhanizam added that overall his team is fully prepared to compete in this prestigious tournament, and the players are also free from any injuries.
"The spirits is high and hope the players can adapt to the matches, the weather, and the atmosphere here, as this is the first time we will be playing in the World Cup.
"We believe the Malaysian hockey lovers will support the indoor hockey team regardless of the outcome.
"For match against Germany, we are fully ready in every aspect. This is what we have been waiting for, the match in the World Cup," he stated.
After the match against Germany, the national squad will face Argentina on February 4th and Iran on February 6th.
The top eight teams following the group stage will qualify for the quarterfinals, while the remaining teams will compete for ninth to 12th place.
