or the third consecutive final of the Malaysian Women’s Indoor Hockey League Malacca Old Ladies HC (MOLHC) and defending champion Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur HT will meet in the final this evening.
The 2024 third edition of the women’s MIHL will be held today at 4pm at the IOI Sports Arena Mall Putrajaya, followed by the men’s final at 6pm.
DBKL will be going for a hattrick win of thethe championship after winning in 2021 and 2022.
In Friday’s semifinals, MOLHC defeated University Malaysia 5-2, and DBKL, coached by former national player Nuraini Abdul Rashid, edged BNHC SMZN 3-1.
Malacca Old Ladies HC, coached by Sharifah Syahmi Nazihah Syed Mohd Amin, led 2-0 courtesy of penalty corner conversions by team captain Nur Aisyah Yaacob in the sixth and ninth minutes.
Malaysia University, however, clawed back to level at 2-2 through Nursyaza Afiqah Safawi (15th) and team captain Nor Asfarina Isahyifiqa Isahhidun (20th).
MOLHC upped the ante in the third quarter and scored three more goals. Nur Syafiqah Mohd Zain scored a brace via penalty corner conversions in the 30th and 32nd minutes while Liyana Qilah Mohd Sepawi extended the lead to 5-2 with a field goal in the 40th minute.
In the DBKL-BNHC SMZN encounter, national player Iren Hussin kept the defending champion ahead with a fifth minute goal, while Surizan Awang Noh scored a brace (15th and 35th) to lead 3-0. Nurafwani Mohamad scored BNHC SMZN’s goal.
