Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) continued their journey in the TNB Malaysian Hockey League 2025 with a comfortable 6-1 victory over TNB Thunderbolts at the Buruk Hockey Stadium in Kuala Terengganu on Sunday (January 12).
It was THT’s fourth consecutive win in the league.
Faizal Saari (17th, 43rd) and Mohammad Akhimullah Anuar Esook (19th and 57th) scored a brace each with penalty corner conversions and field goals respectively.
Syarman Mat Tee had earlier scored in the 41stminute and Muhammad Amirul Haniff Mamatconverted a penalty corner in the 52nd minute as THT went on to register a big win.
Charity Shield champions THT lead the standings with 12 points from four consecutive wins, Maybank trail in second spot with nine points and Tenaga Nasional Berhad are third spot on six points. Armed Forces moved up to fourth spot on three points while Thunderbolts are in fifth spot.
Penalty corners and field goals were also the name of the game as Maybank carved a 5-1 win against Nurinsafi Sporting at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
What looked like a slow start turned into an entertaining game and switched instantly. Maybank showed their class with the first in the 21th minute via Amirullah Zainol’s penalty corner conversion.
The Yellow Shirts Maybank went 3-0 ahead by the 38th minute with a Muhammad Salman Sudirman fileld goal (35th) and Muhammad Najmi Farizal Jazlan penalty corner conversion.
Nurinsafi pulled one back in the 41st minute through Nur Rahull Hrsikesa Thaitchana Muruthi’s penalty corner strike. But it was Maybank all the way as they packed two more goals through Hafifihafiz Hanafi (52nd) andMohamad Ashran Hamsani’s field goal in the 58th minute.
Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) also went firing on all cylinders as they romped to a 5-0 victory against China’s Liaoning.
TNB turned on the style by the 12th minute with a Syed Mohamad Syafiq Syed Cholan penalty corner conversion to go 1-0 ahead. South Korean Jang Jong Hyun converted a penalty corner (21st) to extend the lead to 2-0, and field goals from Nik Aiman Nik Rozemi (38th), Muhammad Azrai Aizad (45th) and NorsyafiqSumantri (48th) sealed the deal for TNB.
