SSBJ Thunderbolts led the charge into the semifinals of the TNB Cup 2022 when they sidestepped SSBJ Juniors 3-1 in the quarterfinals that were played earlier today in Bukit Jalil.
SSBJ Juniors were clearly out of their depth this afternoon when they fell to an early Penalty Corner goal from Muhammad Amirul Haniff Mamat in the fifth minute.
Even though SSBJ Juniors managed to drawl level with a Penalty Stroke from Ahmad Ariff Daniel Mohd Shahrein in the 14th minute, SSBJ Thunderbolts were just too compact as they scored twice more in the closing quarters.
Two Penalty Strokes from Mohamad Zulhanif Sahran in the 40th minute and then Muhammad Addy Jazmi Zamlus in the 57th minute separated the two sides.
SSBJ Thunderbolts will now take on AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts in the semifinals in two days.
For AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts, they had to work hard for their close 1-0 win over SSTMI Juniors following an early 15th minute Penalty Corner goal from Mohamad Hazim Mohd Ahir
And while SSTMI Juniors tried hard to get back into the game, AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts held their nerves intact to ride out the storm and into the next round.
In the meantime, the other semifinal will see SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ up against SSTMI Thunderbolts.
SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ walked away 1-0 winners over MSNS/SHA SABAH with the only goal of the game coming off Perabu Tangaraja who smashed in a Penalty Corner in the 22nd minute.
For SSTMI Thunderbolts, they had to work hard for their narrow 1-0 win over DBKL HT with the latter holding out for long periods before succumbing in the third quarter.
Muhammad Harris Iskandar Osman struck in a Field Goal in the 44th minute for the hard-fought victory for SSTMI Thunderbolts.
