SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ will take on SSBJ Thunderbolts in the final of the Boys’ TNB Cup 2022 on Sunday in Bukit Jalil.
The semifinals were every bit as exhilarating with SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ putting up a disciplined performance to beat defending champions SSTMI Thunderbolts while SSBJ Thunderbolts smashed in a late winner against AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts to confirm their slots in the final.
As expected, the battle between SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ and SSTMI Thunderbolts were very close with several misses at the start.
But as the strain began to show on defending champions SSTMI Thunderbolts, Haziq Haiqal Daus took advantage of a lapse to slot in the winning Field Goal in the 41st minute of play.
A late surge from SSTMI Thunderbolts failed to change the inevitable as SMKDBL-PHJ-MSNJ celebrate their place in the final against SSBJ Thunderbolts.
SSBJ Thunderbolts played a patient game throughout with AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts the first to get onto the score sheet when Mohamad Hazim Mohd Ahir sounded the backboard off a Penalty Corner in the fifth minute.
But that lead would last just three minutes in the first period when Muhammad Amirul Haniff Mamat scored the equalising goal for SSBJ Thunderbolts with a finish from a Penalty Corner.
A second Penalty Corner at the half hour mark saw SSBJ Thunderbolts going ahead through Muhammad Amirul Haniff Mamat.
However, AHP-SSP-MSP Thunderbolts did not give up where just three minutes later, Mohamad Shamir Rizmi Shamsul turned in a Penalty Corner to put both teams back on level.
But with just seconds left, Mohamad Zulhanif Sahran made sure of the win when he knocked in a Penalty Corner to give SSBJ Thunderbolts the well-earned victory.
