Two Out Of Two For Perak In Men’s TNB TARC 2022

Defending men's champions Perak lived up to their favourites' tag with another thumping victory, hammering Negri Sembilan 4-0 in their second Group A match of the 60th TNB Tun Abdul Razak Cup at the National Hockey Stadium today. The victory saw Perak establish a 100 percent record with six goals scored in two matches and are yet to concede a single goal. Perak opened the scoring when Syed Mohamad Syafiq Syed Cholan converted a fourth minute penalty corner, before Muhamad Hafizal Halmi doubled the score with his second goal of the tournament in the 23rd minute. A brace of field goals from Mohamad Zulhamizan Awang Abas in the 29th and 36th minutes completed the scoring. Terengganu kept up the pressure on Perak, following up their 8-0 thumping of Negeri Sembilan on Thursday with a 3-2 win over the Armed Forces thanks to a Mohd Fitri Saari brace to bring his total for the tournament to five goals. Fitri Saari’s goal cancelled out Muhammad Alif Azhar Salim's fourth minute opener for the Armed Forces with a field goal in the 24th minute and netting the winner in the 58th minute. Mohamad Akhimullah Anuar Esook gave Terengganu the lead with his second goal of the tournament in the 29th minute, which was levelled by Armed Forces' Mohamad Sufian Marsom in the 54th minute. Melaka moved to the top of Group B on goal difference after beating Selangor 5-0 in their second match today. Mohamad Faid Farhadh Mohd Shah opened the scoring for Melaka in the fourth minute, which was doubled by Muhammad Amirul Aiman Ariffin in the 22nd minute, before a brace of penalty corner conversions by Adam Aiman Mamat in the 32nd and 40th minutes and a field goal from Dedy Ariyadi Junaidi in the 58 minute completed the mauling. Pahang kept pace with Melaka with a hard-earned 3-2 win over Penang to follow up their 4-1 opening day win over Perlis. Eswaran George gave Penang the lead with a field goal in the 22nd minute, before a brace of penalty corner conversions from Muhammad Idris Samad in the 32nd and 35th minutes and a field goal from Ismail Abu in the 39th minute put Pahang firmly in the lead, before Penang pulled on back through Jiwa Mohan in the 59th minute. In the final match of the day, Perlis revived their hopes with a 6-0 thumping of Singapore thanks to a quickfire brace of penalty corner conversions by Muhammad Ariff Aiman Mohd Junid in the eighth and ninth minutes which set them on their way. Muhammad Amirul Azahar added the third goal for Perlis in the 23rd minute, followed by Muhammad Asyraf Azhar in the 29th minute, Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin Tengku Abdul Jalil in the 40th minute and Muhammad Syahir Hasif Harun in the 52nd minute. Tomorrow's Group A matches sees Kuala Lumpur take on Johor in the morning session, before Armed Forces take on Negri Sembilan in the evening.
