Both DBKL HT men's and women's teams moved a step closer to securing a spot in the semi-finals, after maintaining their 100 percent records with victories in the 2nd Malaysian Indoor Hockey League (MIHL) at the Sultan Idris Education University here today. The DBKL HT men continued their strong run to beat KJLJD Stallion 4-1 to open up a two-point lead atop the standings after chasers Maybank were held to a 3-3 draw by defending champions ATM Gladiator. After a goalless first quarter, DBKL HT turned on the style in the second quarter with two quick field goals by Danial Asyraf Abdul Ghani in the 11th and 13th minute to stun their opponents. Danial Asyraf completed his hattrick in the third quarter with another field goal in the 23rd minute. KJLJD Stallion pulled a goal back through a Norfadzeli Nasir penalty corner in the 31st minute, but Faridzul Afiq Mohd reinstated DBKL HT's three-goal advantage with a field goal in the 34th minute. Maybank's 3-3 draw against ATM Gladiator meant they retained second spot, while their opponents lost third spot to KPT-Masum who beat the Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) 4-1 to move up. In the other men's match of the day, hosts UPSI-KPT registered their second victory in the tournament after beating Perlis Mighty Lions 2-1. DBKL HT women are just one win away from securing their spot in the semis after beating ATM Gladiator 2-1, thanks to field goals from Surizan Awang Noh in the 17th minute and Qasidah Najwa Muhammad Halimi in the 32nd minute, while ATM Gladiator replied through a Rosmah Asrin penalty corner in the 41st minute. The win meant DBKL HT could become the first team to confirm their semis spot if they beat MOHC-MHA in their encounter tomorrow. MOHC-MHA moved into second spot after a 1-1 draw with Mutiara Penang today, while in another match CS Mustang and BNHC KLplayed out a 4-4 draw.
