DBKL HT are on course for a double of both the men's and women's titles after both their squad made their respective finals in style in the 2nd Malaysian Indoor Hockey League (MIHL) at the Sultan Idris Education University here today. The DBKL HT women cruised through the semi-finals with a 9-1 demolition of BNHC KL and will meet MOHC-MHA in the final tomorrow, after the latter beat ATM Gladiator 6-3 in their semi-final encounter. The DBKL HT women will be looking to successfully defend their title after winning the inaugural competition last year. In their semi-finals today, DBKL HT were given a surprise when BNHC KL grabbed a first minute lead through a Noorzubaidah Naszemi field goal, but quickly got their act together a stamped their authority with Fazilla Slyvester Silin bagging the first of her hattrick with the equaliser via a penalty corner in the third minute. Fazilla added two more goals via penalty corners in the 12th and 33rd minutes, while Iren Hussin chipped in with a brace via a field goal in the 15th minute and a penalty corner in the 21st minute. DBKL HT's other goals were scored by Nor Izaidah Ibrahim in the 23rd minute, Nur Atira Mohaad Ismail (26th), Raja Norsharina Raja Shabuddin (35th) and Nor Asfarina Isahyifiqa Isahhidun in the 37th minute. The other semi-final, Nur Syafiqah Mohd Zain starred for MOHC-MHA with a hattrick in the fourth, 12th and 17th minutes, while Liyana Aqilah Mohd Sapawi (10th), Norshafiqha Ishak (20th) and Nuraslinda Said with a field goal in the 38th minute, completed the scoring for MOHC-MHA. ATM-Gladiator repliead with goals from Izzuin Ismail in the 22nd and 39th minutes, and Rosmah Asrin through a 26th minute penalty corner. The DBKL HT men emulated their women by overcoming KPT-Masum 5-2 in their semi-final to set-up a final against defending champions ATM Gladiator, who beat Maybank 6-5 in a thriller. The DBKL HT men started their semi-final strongly, taking an early lead through a Danial Asyraf Abdul Ghani field goal in the fourth minute, before Faridzul Afiq Mohd went on a hattrick run with goals in the 15th, 25th and 35th minutes, while Wan Haziq Hisyamuddin Wan Ameer Ruzman got their other goal in the 19th minute. KPT-Masum waited too late to get on the scoresheet, with Ahmad Kazamirul Nasruddin netting a 35th minute penalty corner and Muhammad Muhibuddin Moharam with a 38th minute field goal. In the other semi-final which was interrupted momentarily after heavy rain outside the tournament hall saw water seep on to the court, Mohd Shafiq Yaacob emerged ATM Gladiator's hero with five goals in the third, eighth, 10th, 15th and 33 minutes, while Mohammad Amirul Hanis Abdul Aziz grabbed their other goal in the 22nd minute. Thus, the defending champions of both the men and women's competitions will feature in the finals tomorrow.
