Nur Insafi continued to march in the TNBMHL 2017 Division One League following a 6-2 victory over Universiti Putra Malaysia-KPT in Sungai Petani today.
Muhammad Ateeq, one of six Pakistan national players in the squad, scored a hat-trick via penalty corners whilst Aamir Shahzad, Mazhar Abbas and Muhammad Bilal Qadir added to UPM’s agony. M. Saravanan and Amir Zulkarnain Ahmad Robang replied for UPM.
It was the Penang-based outfit’s third straight win in the league following 5-2 and 8-2 wins respectively earlier against Petaling Jaya Municipal Council and Bukit Jalil Sports School.
In other Division One matches, Petaling Jaya Municipal Council and Johor played to a scoreless draw, RMAF Rajawali defeated BJSS 2-1 at the Subang Air Base ground and Police edged Politeknik Malaysia 2-0 at the Tun Razak Stadium.
Aidil Zafri Mohd Zahir scored a double for RMAF Rajawali in the 29 th and 33 rd minutes from field goals whilst Faiq Razin Zariq reduced the deficit for BJSS six minutes before the end of the match from open play.
Police moved into second place in the table standings with seven points after today’s win – two points behind leaders Nur Insafi. Bajit Singh opened the scoring for Police in the second minute via penalty corner and Dick Cheny Waili doubled the lead in the 38 th minute from a field goal.
In the Women’s League which got off today, Blue Warriors (Police), Terengganu Ladies Hockey Team and PKS-Uniten- KPT scored big wins over their opponents.
The Blue Warriors downed Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School 5-0, Terengganu Ladies Hockey Team crushed Kulim 6-0 and PKS-Uniten- KPT thrashed Johor Bahru 6-0.
