Big Win For Blue Warriors

Blue Warriors continued their dominance with a 7-0 thrashing of Malaysian Armed Forces in the TNB-Malaysian Women’s Hockey League (TNBMHL) at the Ministry of Higher Education ground on Jalan Pantai in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday (Jan 18).

 

Megat Azrafiq Megat Termizi’s Blue Warriors showed themselves to be real league contenders, posting their biggest win in three matches.

 

They held a 1-0 lead through Eun Ji Cho’s sixthminute penalty corner conversion. The South Korean returned in the 40th minute for her second goal in similar style.

 

Seul Ki Cheon, another Korean, also feted herself to a brace with field goals in the 33rd and 42nd minutes.

 

The Royal Malaysian Police outfit then added three more goals through Fatin Shafika Mahd Sukri (11th), Norhasikin Halim (41st) and Raja Norsharina Raja Shabuddin (51st).

 

In another match, Malaysian University (MU) edged Qnet Phoenix 2-0 for their first win after two matches. MU had earlier lost to the Blue Warriors 0-1.

 

Iqmal Abdul Jabar’s side went 1-0 ahead via national player Khairunnisa Ayuni Mohd Sharuddin’s penalty corner conversion in the 20th minute while Nurmaizatul Hanim Syafi Shiek Fuad extended the lead to 2-0 from a penalty corner strike in the 51st minute.

 

Charity Shield champions Blue Warriors lead the seven-team table standings with nine points – five ahead of Qnet Phoenix in second spot while Negeri Sembilan moved down to third spot (4 points).

 

Malaysian University (3) is in fourth spot, followed by Armed Forces in fifth (3). Mutiara-MSSP-PSHA-PKS Uniten are at the basement with no points following two defeats.
