SSTMI and KL Wipers to remain cautious

After recording impressive wins in their respective semi-finals first-leg ties of the Malaysian Junior Women’s Hockey League, both Kuala Lumpur Wipers and Tengku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) Thunderbolt are determined to stay disciplined and cautious heading into the return leg on Wednesday at the National Hockey Stadium.

Although holding a 4-1 lead against MSN Kedah/MSS Kedah, Kuala Lumpur Wipers are ready to go on the attack once more.

KL Wipers coach, Kannagi Arumugan said her team is expecting a full force offensive game plan from their opponents but remain confident of adding more goals of their own to secure a place in the final.

SSTMI Thunderbolt’s coach, Azlizam Abdul Shukor, said: “My team is very focused on getting the job done in the second-leg and will not underestimate Sekolah Sukan Malaysia Sabah even though we have a 5-0 lead.”

“Staying disciplined will be crucial at this stage to avoid silly suspensions and injuries ahead of the final on Sunday (April 10),” he added.

The champion of this inaugural woman’s league will receive a RM15,000 while the runner-up will bag RM10,000. Sunday’s final will also be played at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
