SSP-MSP-Thunderbolt take aim at OLAK

KUALA LUMPUR (16 Feb, 2016): Pahang Sports School SSP-MSP-Thunderbolt take on OLAK Tigers on Wednesday in Kuantan knowing full well that only a win will give them a fighting chance of winning the TNB-Junior Hockey League Division One title.

Having lost one match so far and five wins under their belt, the Pahang side are the only team that pose a threat to Tunku Mahkota Ismail Sports School (SSTMI) Thunderbolts title defence as both sides are set to meet next on Friday.

SSTMI are undefeated after seven matches and have been on a winning streak, but a loss against Pahang Sports School could mean that first and second place could be decided by goal difference.

But for this scenario to play out, the tricky OLAK hurdle must be cleared and team manager Wan Mazlan Isa knows his players can’t take them lightly.

“OLAK are a good team and they have experience on their side. In fact, some of our former players are now playing for them. So they cannot be taken lightly.

“We are taking one match at a time and this is a must win for us to book a top four spot. The final score is not important, it is the three points,” added Wan Mazlan who does not want to think about the SSTMI game just yet.

In the other Division One match on Wednesday, fourth placed Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) face fifth placed Politeknik Malaysia at the National Hockey Stadium Pitch 2.

A win for BJSS will all but seal their berth to the knockout stages, while a win for Politeknik will see the race for a final two quarter-final spots go to the wire.

Fixtures – Wednesday (17 Feb, 2016) – Division One: BJSS Thunderbolt v Politeknik Malaysia (National Hockey Stadium Pitch 2); SSP-MSP-Thunderbolt v OLAK Tigers (Kuantan).
