Bangladesh raised hopes of a quarterfinals entry following a 5-4 win over Oman in a nine-goal thriller in the 8th Men’s Junior Asia Cup at the Wisma Belia Hockey Stadium yesterday.

Oman shot ahead first in the third minute through Mohamad Al-Lawati and added the second in the 20th minute but it was Bangladesh who emerged victors with goals from Ashraful Islam (11th, 38th), Roman Sarkar (4th), Arshad Hossain (16th) and Dean Mohamed Emon (25th).

Bangladesh plays Korea on Tuesday and only an upset win here will assure them of a quarterfinals ticket while Oman takes on the mighty Pakistanis.
