The Perak men and women teams suffered a double blow in the playoff for bronze medals in the TNB Tun Abdul Razak Cup at the Johor Hockey Stadium, Taman Daya, Johor Bahru.

Pahang outclassed the Perak men’s team 5-1 to claim the bronze medal. For the record, the Silver State won the coveted title 13 times since its inception in 1963.

Mohamad Shamir Rizmi (26th), Tengku NasrulIkmal (32nd, 59th), Muhammad Noor Firdaus (54th), and Syamil Azim (55th) scored for Pahang.  Speedy Tigers’ penalty corner specialist netted for Perak in the 34th minute.


In the women’s playoff for third placing, Perak and Terengganu were embroiled in a scoreless draw at the end of regulation time, that resulted in a penalty shootout.

Terengganu eventually won 3-2 in the shootout with goals from Nurul Erna Fariesha, Nor Asyiqin Syakirah and Fatin Naimah. The Perak goals came through siblings Nurul Qistina Mohamad Ridzuan and Nur Zuha.
